Text Based On 1 Thessalonians Chapter 4 (KJV)
For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. Wherefore comfort one another with these words.

CHURCH IN THE WILDWOOD

1. There’s a church in the valley by the wildwood,
No lovelier spot in the dale;
No place is so dear to our childhood,
As the little brown church in the vale.

Refrain:
Come to the church in the wildwood,
Oh, come to the church in the dale,
No spot is so dear to our childhood,
As the little brown church in the vale.

2. How sweet on a clear, Sabbath morning,
To list to the clear ringing bell;
Its tones so sweetly are calling,
Come to Holy Sabbath service in the vale.

Refrain:

3. There, close by the church in the valley,
Lies one that I loved so well;
He sleeps, sweetly sleeps, ’neath the willow,
Disturb not his rest in the vale.

Refrain:

4. There, close by the side of that loved one,
To trees where the wild flowers bloom,
When the farewell hymn shall be chanted-
I shall rest by his side in that tomb.

Refrain:

5. From the church in the valley by the wildwood,
When day fades away into night,
We would fain from this spot of our childhood-
Wing our way to great mansions of light.

Refrain:

Loud, the TRUMPET Blast, and the “Resurection!”
