Thee will I love whose blood was shed-
To cleanse my guilty soul from sin;
Like as a lamb to slaughter led,
My loveless, hardened heart to win.

Thee will I praise whose heart was bowed-
In death and grief and pain for me,
Whilst from Thy steel piercèd side there flowed-
A stream of blood to set me free.
3.
Thee will I serve who died the death-
That I might rise to life divine,
Who drank the cup of curse and wrath-
That I might drink of joy divine.
4.
Thee will I trust while life shall last,
On Thee rely when death shall come;
So fight that I my crown may gain,
And hear thee say, “my child, well done!”
